Famous People - India -> Bhagat Singh 

Bhagat Singh was one of the most influential freedom fighter of India. He was born on 27th September, 1907. He became involved in revolutionary activities against British rule in India. He also took part in various revolutionary organisations and became the leader of the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA), later converted into Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA). Bhagat underwent a fast of 63 days in jail demanding equal rights for both Indian as well as British political prisoners. On March 23, 1931, he was hanged for shooting a police officer in response to the killing of veteran freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai. His inheritance encouraged the youth in India to start fighting for independence and increase the rise of socialism in India.
